$1,500 ReHabilitation Center Scholarship

  • The ReHabilitation Center’s $1,500 Scholarship is awarded annually to a college student from Cattaraugus County. In addition to the cash award, the recipient is given the opportunity for paid summer employment at the agency, allowing him or her to work with people with disabilities and gain valuable work experience in his or her chosen career.
  • To qualify for this scholarship, the student must be a college junior, senior or graduate student majoring in special education, social sciences or a health-related field. Any resident of Cattaraugus County meeting these criteria may apply. A scholarship committee comprised of board members and community members will choose the winner according to need and use of the scholarship. Also, this committee may make a special exception for children of staff who do not live in Cattaraugus County so that they may be eligible for this scholarship.

ARN-NIWI Nursing Scholarships 2012

  • The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses-Nurses in Washington Internship (NIWI) provides nurses with the opportunity to learn how to influence health care through legislative and regulatory processes.  The two scholarships offered are BSN & Graduate Scholarship. The BSN Scholarship where ARN offers financial assistance in the form of a $1,500 scholarship to nurses working toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.  And the Graduate Scholarship
    ARN offers financial assistance in the form of a $1,500 scholarship to nurses working toward a Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a doctorate degree in nursing (PhD, DNP, or DNS/DNSc).

B.J. Treglown Scholarship

  • Oregon Health Care Foundation offers the B.J. Treglown Scholarship for Registered Nurses. Established in memory of B.J. Treglown, a Long Term Care RN who had passion for seniors and education.  Candidates must be: a CAN, CMA or LPN and currently employed in long term care with a minimum of three years experience and seeking an RN with the end goal of career  advancement in the long term care profession.

Burger Rehabilitation Systems Affiliations and Scholarships

  • Burger Rehabilitation Systems, Inc. is proudly affiliated with many universities and colleges to provide clinical affiliations for students pursuing their PT, OT, PTA, OTA and ST degrees. Clinical placements are offered at Burger Rehabilitation sites throughout Northern and Central California. We provide opportunities for observation and volunteer hours to those who may be interested in the PT, OT, or ST professions. To assist students with their studies, Burger Rehabilitation also supports the next generation of clinicians as we continue to provide internships each year to students who are pursuing degrees in the rehabilitation professions.

Cardiac Rehab Nursing Scholarships 2012

  • The Cardiac Rehab Scholarship was established in 1993 by Roger Brown, Bill Keen and Louise DePedro, former patients at the Cardiac Rehab facility at Brandywine Hospital, in honor of the caring and concern demonstrated by the cardiac rehab nursing staff. Since then, existing and former patients at the Cardiac Rehab facility are asked to contribute to this fund in lieu of holiday gifts for the staff, so that nursing students can continue their studies regardless of economic circumstance.
  • The generosity of many current and former patients enables the foundation to award two to four $1,000 scholarships at the Cardiac Rehab facility’s Holiday Party each December.

Claire M. Fagin Fellowship Scholarship

  • The American Academy of Nursing seeks applicants for its Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity (BAGNC) Claire M. Fagin Fellowship Program.This Fellowship supports two years of full time advanced research and leadership training for doctorally prepared nurses committed to careers in academic geriatric nursing. Through generous funding from The John A. Hartford Foundation, the BAGNC Program awards a total of $120,000 to each selected Claire M. Fagin Fellow.  The Mayday Fund provides an additional $5,000 award to selected candidates whose research focuses on pain in older persons.

Darthmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Opportunities

  • The scholarship awards, which cover the cost of full tuition to TDI’s graduate programs, were established by the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Board of Trustees.  The scholarships are intended to speed the integration and implementation of concepts advanced in TDI’s unique master’s programs into clinical practice at DHMC and other Dartmouth-Hitchcock sites. Upon completion of the program, scholarship recipients will join more than 55 Dartmouth-Hitchcock colleagues who, as TDI alumni, have incorporated their educational experience into innovation and excellence in their specialty areas.
  • The trustee scholars may complete the program in one year or over three years. As part of their application for the award, they were asked to submit a proposal outlining what they hoped to gain from the process and detailing a three-year plan for implementing what they learned into their work, post-graduation.

Gaspar & Rose T. Digiovanna Memorial Geriatic Nursing Scholarships 2012

  • The purpose of scholarship is to recognize a 1st degree junior level nursing major who has demonstrated a sincere interest in caring for elders, as well as a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner with older adults and their families. Minimum Applicant Qualifications are:
  • Current status as 1st degree junior-level student in the major;  a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50;  must demonstrate high likelihood of successfully completing the nursing program (including all the requirements for licensure) and a high likelihood of working with the
  • Scholarship Amount is $500 for the upcoming academic year.

Jacob J. Karl Memorial Staff Scholarship

  • The Jacob J. Karl Memorial Staff Scholarship is awarded annually to a staff member in memory of the county legislator who served on The ReHab Center’s Board of Governors and was instrumental in promoting the agency’s growth during the 1970s. In order to qualify, staff members must have a minimum of two years of full-time employment status and have a specific purpose for the scholarship, which will enrich the employee personally and help in the performance of his or her job. Therefore, eligible staff may apply if they are planning to educate or advance themselves by taking a course, participating in a seminar, attending a conference, etc. If taking a college course, the staff member need not be pursuing a degree; just a course to enrich one’s self would suffice. The scholarship committee chooses this recipient, and the award amount – which could range up to $500 – is based on the information submitted.

Keswick Geriatric Nursing Scholarships 2012

  • The geriatric nursing assistant certification scholarship was developed to encourage and promote careers in nursing through financial support. The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition up to $800.  Eligible applicants must be: a part-time or full-time, benefit-eligible employee for a minimum of two (2) years at Keswick and in good employment standing. A recommendation endorsed by the employee’s immediate supervisor and the Department Director must be submitted; for dependent child of a benefit-eligible employee , the benefit-eligible employee must have been employed a minimum of two (2) years and in good employment standing. The dependent child must submit proof of recent high school graduation and at least a 2.5 grade point average or better; and for students, recent graduate of a local high school with a 2.5 grade point average or better. Letter of recommendation from teacher or counselor and 100-word essay explaining why they desire a nursing career is required, and the student must demonstrate financial need as supported through a financial need application through the college.

Lander University Geriatric Nursing Scholarships for Senior Students

  • The Agnes M. Luddy Nursing Scholarship is available to junior and senior students at Lander University. Applicants must be majoring in orthopedic, rehabilitative or geriatric nursing to qualify for this award.

Lucille and Bruce Lambert Foundation Scholarships

  • These scholarships are provided through an endowed fund from the Lucille and Bruce Lambert Foundation. The Lamberts were impressed by Marymount Nursing students who practiced at a nursing home they owned. Through their foundation, scholarships will support nursing students who are interested in geriatric nursing practice. Each year, the scholarships are awarded to senior nursing students who demonstrate caring and an interest in geriatric nursing.

Marie Carlot Memorial Scholarship

  • Sponsored by  Radford University, Fernande Marie Carlot Memorial Scholarship is available to non-traditional nursing majors.  Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA to be eligible for this award. Preference is given to students who plan to work in the geriatric field.

Marie Rooney Nursing Scholarship

  • Marie Rooney, worked as the practice manager for Brandywine Valley Cardiovascular Associates where “her kind support to family, friends and patients made her very well-known in our community.”  Her family has made this scholarship possible with a special focus on those nursing students who are juggling their studies with family and work responsibilities.  Applicants must be: should have at least a 2.5 GPA in his or her first year of study; demonstrates consistent exceptional clinical performance in the care of clients and develops and maintains rapport with members of the health team so that communication is constructive and effective.  Preference will be given to those applicants who have struggled to balance family responsibilities with school and work, as Ms. Rooney did throughout her career.

Mary Ann Mikulic Scholarship

  • The Mary Ann Mikulic Scholarship is another scholarship provided by ARN which offers one full tuition scholarship for the Professional Rehabilitation Nursing Online Course.
  • Eligibility requirements include: registered Nurse and currently practicing in the specialty of Rehabilitation Nursing.

Mary Brunell Nursing Scholarships 2012

  • The Mary Brunell Scholarship Fund has been established within the Rhode Island College Foundation by Mary Brunell, Ed.D., RN. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist nursing students who have demonstrated interest in gerontological nursing. During her tenure as the Vice President for Patient Services at Roger Williams Medical Center, Mary Brunell enjoyed a strong professional relationship with the Department of Nursing at Rhode Island College and, in recognition of her own commitment to and interest in gerontological nursing, endowed the scholarship to provide financial help to students who shared that interest.

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Scholarship

  • In 2002, the Mary Free Bed Guild of Grand Rapids created the Minority Scholarship Program to promote diverse staffing.  Today, two former scholarship winners are now working at Mary Free Bed.  If you are currently enrolled in a nursing or therapy program (PT, Speech, OT) at a university or college in the West Michigan area, you may be eligible for the Mary Free Bed Guild Minority Scholarship.
  • Students who meet the established criteria are eligible to apply for a 1 year scholarship. The scholarship amounts vary depending on individual needs.

Mary Opal Wolanin Scholarship

  • The National Gerontological Nursing Association (NGNA) offers the Mary Opal Wolanin Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarships were established to provide financial assistance to students intending to work with older adults. Applicants must intend to work in a gerontology/geriatric setting after graduation.  A $500.00 scholarship may be awarded for each category.  For the Graduate, a nursing student with a major in gerontology/geriatric nursing enrolled in a nationally accredited nursing program in the U.S. and carrying a minimum of six credits. And for the Undergraduate, Eligible applicants include full-time or part-time nursing students in a nationally accredited U.S. school of nursing.  Applicants must intend to work in a gerontology/geriatric setting after graduation.

Mary S. Oakley Gerontological Nursing Research and Scholarship Award

  • Offered Rush Unviersity, applicant admitted to the PhD program who is focusing on health and/or illness in older adults will be considered for this award. Admitted students will be considered based on a merit review of their application materials, completion of the FAFSA, financial need and available scholarship resources. Priority will be given to students who enroll full-time. The recipient of this award agrees to serve as an ambassador for the care and research of older adults; and represent specialized needs of older adults to professionals, senior groups, and/or other venues that advance the cause of gerontological nursing.

Predoctoral Nursing Scholarships 2012 Program

  • The American Academy of Nursing seeks applicants for its Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity (BAGNC) Predoctoral Scholarship Program. This 2-year scholarship program supports full time doctoral education for nurses committed to careers in academic geriatric nursing. Through generous funding from The John A. Hartford Foundation, the BAGNC Program awards a total of $100,000 to each selected Predoctoral Scholar.  The Mayday Fund provides an additional $5,000 award to selected candidates whose research focuses on pain in older persons.

Rebecca Ann Hellier Scholarship

  • The Rebecca Ann Hellier Scholarship was established by the Hellier family in remembrance of Rebecca, who passed away on June 30, 2000. This $500 scholarship is earmarked for a current direct care professional to further his/her education. To be eligible, staff must be employed by The ReHabilitation Center for at least one full year. First preference will be given to a current staff member that is working in a direct care home or facility. Second preference will be given to a current house manager to provide enhanced management and leadership skills to inspire direct care staff. Third preference will be given to any current staff that wants to further their professional education and understanding of serving people with disabilities.

RNCN Rehabilitation Nursing Scholarships

  • The Rehabilitation Nurse Coordinators Network Memorial Scholarship offers $1,500 award to an undergraduate nursing student, and $2000 will be awarded to a registered nurse who is pursuing an advanced nursing degree and has demonstrated interest in any area of rehabilitation.

Sigma Theta Tau International Grant Recipients

  • The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is committed to improving the health of people worldwide through increasing the scientific base of nursing practice. In support of this mission, the society advances nursing leadership and scholarship, and furthers the utilization of nursing research in health care delivery as well as public policy.

Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital Nursing Scholarships 2012

  • The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza offers scholarships to highly motivated, compassionate individuals who want to pursue a career in nursing.  To be considered for a nursing scholarship, applicants are required to: be an employee at The Medical Center of Aurora for a minimum of three months, and work at least 16 hours per week; be an employee in good standing (no disciplinary actions above a Step 1 (one) in process); be accepted into an accredited School of Nursing or Health Education Program, with commitment to attend on a full-time basis; and agree to a two-year employment commitment following successful completion of the program.

Teresa Gulati Nursing Scholarship

  • Dedicated operating room nurse and beloved nursing instructor Teresa Gulati is being honored with the establishment of an endowed scholarship in her name, to be administered by the Arnot Ogden Medical Center Foundation.  The Teresa Gulati Nursing Scholarship is scheduled to make two awards totaling $5,000 annually to nursing students at the school who are in their second or later year of study.  Scholarship recipients will be chosen from the pool of applicants by a committee. U.S. HRSA Nursing Scholarships

  • The Nursing Scholarship Program is a selective program of the U.S. Government that helps alleviate the critical shortage of registered nurses currently experienced by certain types of health care facilities by helping needy students complete their registered nurse training. In exchange for the scholarship, upon graduation, the newly minted nurses work at these types of facilities for at least 2 years. In exchange for at least 2 years service at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses, the Nursing Scholarship Program pays for tuition and eligible fees, other reasonable costs, such as books, clinical supplies/instruments and uniforms and monthly stipend ($1,289 for the 2011-2012 school year).

Unity Health System Opportunities for Operating Room Nurses

William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship Fund

  • The William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship Fund for Geriatric Nurse Practitioners will award scholarships to part-time and full-time graduate students enrolled in the Geriatric Nurse Practitioner programs. The awards must be used for tuition. Eligible applicants must be: matriculated student in the Geriatic Nurse Practioner Program; must be in good academic standing; and must submit completed application addressed to New York University College of Nursing.

    I’m a very intelligent 22yrs old girl Nigerian from a poor parental background. I want to be a nurse but my parents can’t afford it. I hv worked as an auxillary nurse for two years in one private hospital in my country. Pls I want to be certificated nurse,I also want to serve humanity, help my family and also make a great history as a nurse. Please help me, I need sponsorship to study nursing in the USA.
